Dolphins WR Brandon Marshall ‘disgusted’ at teammates who ‘wasted their time’ harping on fumble ruling after Steelers loss

Dolphins linebackers Karlos Dansby and Channing Crowder didn’t hold back their thoughts about the officiating crew and controversial fumble ruling that went against the Dolphins after Sunday’s 23-22 loss to Pittsburgh.

“They took that game from us,” Dansby complained.

“We shouldn’t have to put it in the ref’s hands, which as we see they can make some bad calls sometimes,” Crowder said, among many other sound bites.

But Brandon Marshall didn’t open his mouth after the game. And Tuesday, on his weekly appearance on WQAM-560′s Michael Irvin Show, Marshall called out his teammates for whining about the play so much after the game.

“Honestly, to tell you the truth, I’m disgusted that so many people in our organization and our team really harped on that as much as we did,” Marshall said. “After the game I didn’t talk to the media just because of that, because that was gonna come up. And for me to spend 10-15 minutes after the game talking about that fumble, like it was the reason why we lost, is something I couldn’t do and I just took myself out of that position. And I was disappointed that most guys wasted their time talking about that one play, like that was the reason we lost.”

Marshall said the Dolphins should be more upset with themselves than with the referees, especially when they turned two early turnovers inside Pittsburgh’s 25-yard line into two measly field goals.

“We had so many opportunities to put this team away,” he said. “We got gifts. It was Christmas for us. We got two turnovers in their Green Zone. All we had to do is punch it in, and we failed to do that. The game came down to many more plays than just that one play.”

Though Marshall won’t blame the loss on the bizarre replay ruling, in which the Dolphins won the challenge by getting Ben Roethlisberger’s touchdown overturned to a fumble, but inconclusive video evidence led to the Steelers getting the ball back on the half yard line, CBS analyst Boomer Esiason will.

Also speaking on WQAM, Esiason said he felt “sick to my stomach” for Tony Sparano and the way the Dolphins lost last week.

“Miami should be 4-2. They got screwed last week, and I don’t care what you say,” Esiason said.
